What is VCI?

VCI, which stands for "Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor", refers to organic salts derived from amines that gradually volatilize.

These salts saturate the internal environment of the packaging, depositing on the metal surface and forming an invisible monomolecular layer that protects against corrosion.

When the packaging is opened, the protective layer dissipates instantly, leaving the metal clean and ready for use.

The Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors (VCI) from VCI Brazil are manufactured with proprietary technology, providing specific protection for each type of metal. Additionally, they are non-toxic and safe for both health and the environment.

MECHANISM OF ACTION
Formation of a uniform monomolecular film: 2 protective effects

Prevents contact and action of oxidizing agents on the metal surface
Neutralizes polarization currents and, consequently, the oxidation process

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF VCI?

  • No deposition of materials on the metal surface (Clean Technology);
  • No need for subsequent cleaning processes (no need for toxic organic solvents);
  • Metal parts with good visual appearance after storage and transport: ready for use;
  • Simplicity of application: flexibility;
  • Provides chemical and mechanical resistance;
  • Low cost: fewer stages in packaging and unpacking processes for metallic materials;
  • Does not pose risks to human health or the environment, promoting ‘clean’ processes;
  • Biodegradable, virtually non-toxic, and some products are recyclable.
